NEWS RELEASE
New BrainPOP movies help kids understand history and government
K-12 movie producer adds social studies online for back to school.
New York, NY, August 19, 2003 BrainPOP (www.BrainPOP.com), the leading producer of Math, Science, and English educational animated movies for kids, is expanding its award-winning animated movies to cover social studies curriculum topics.
Building on the proven track record of its movies, BrainPOP has turned its expertise to history and current events, giving new life to the past, and exploring the events of the present. Social Studies topics include The 13 Colonies, The Civil War, The Great Depression, US Armed Forces, Presidential Power, and many others. BrainPOP Social Studies movies correlate to the National Standards for Middle School.
"It was the question we heard most from teachers last year", said BrainPOP CEO Avraham Kadar, "When
is BrainPOP going to do Social Studies? For BrainPOP, adding History and
current events was a natural outgrowth. Our movies fit very well with the
middle school social studies curriculum material and we are very pleased
to be giving teachers and students exactly what they asked for."
BrainPOP users will be able to access the Social Studies section along with the Science, Math, and English movies. Each month 2 million kids watch BrainPOP movies and exchange messages with a dynamic cast of five characters who lead the user through related activities - interactive quizzes and games, comic strips and experiments. Schools that subscribe to BrainPOP will now have a new and exciting Social Studies learning resource.
"BrainPOP movies are engaging, thought-provoking and deliver accurate information in a format that appeals to today's middle school students" said Shelly Luke Wille, Director of Educational Technology for San Mateo County, CA. "These
short movies are perfect for tailoring curriculum to individual student needs
- allowing teachers to individualize instruction which is so important for
the No Child Left Behind mandates."
See www.brainpop.com/socialstudies for movie titles, and www.brainpop.com/teacher for standards correlation.
