New GEOGRAPHY and GLOBAL POLITICS movies
broaden BrainPOP Social Studies Reach

Animated movies help students master geography and mapping basics, understand the United Nations presence in world politics

New York, NY (January 26, 2005) - BrainPOP (www.brainpop.com), the leading producer of animated educational movies for K-12, is adding new GEOGRAPHY and GLOBAL POLITICS series to its popular Social Studies category. Six new movies extend the offering of one of the most successful sections of the site, with a focus on global topics.

As world events unfold, BrainPOP is working to improve the geography skills of students, while explaining the role of international organizations such as the United Nations.

BrainPOP's geography topics - GEOGRAPHY THEMES, MAP SKILLS, LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE, and CONTINENTS OF THE WORLD - provide an accessible and thorough introduction to the geography basics that K-12 students need to master. BrainPOP's LEAGUE OF NATIONS and UNITED NATIONS movies chart the history of the organizations and explain the role of the modern day UN. Activities and a ten-question interactive quiz follow each movie to reinforce knowledge.

"There was an overwhelming demand for globally relevant social studies topics on BrainPOP," said BrainPOP Chairman and CEO, Avraham Kadar, M.D.. "BrainPOP's new geography and global politics movies offer students and teachers a simple and thorough introduction to the knowledge required of engaged global citizens."

Ms. Karina Linch, a 5th grade teacher in the New York City public schools, agreed: "My students watch the news with their parents and then ask about the location of all these countries they hear about. With BrainPOP's new geography series, I can help them stay involved in figuring out world events. The global politics movies are great because they provide a solid look at organizations that we hear about in the news time and again."
